Josephine Naicker is the Senior Manager of Technology Audit at ATCO, a Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) and a cybersecurity compliance subject matter expert.

Josephine is passionate about finding solutions to everyday problems through technology and harnessing the benefits that business can derive from the convergence of information technology, business and audit. These passions led her to be a contributor to the  global subject matter expert group (made up of 23 countries, including but not limited to USA, Germany, UK, Belgium, Spain, Australia, Canada) that created the industry’s first Global Cloud Auditing Credential which is the  Certificate in Cloud Auditing Knowledge (CCAK). This qualification is a partnership between the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), a global organization focused on security in the cloud, and Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA.


Josephine is also a part of an international team creating a compliance application to assist businesses in automating compliance. Given the recent surge globally of data breaches, she has a keen passion in addressing the maturity of the Cybersecurity Insurance industry. 

Josephine has worked in the public and private sectors, as well as academia, in the areas of risk, forensics, audit (internal and external) and IT. She was especially honored to have been part of the UN Board of Auditors, while at the Auditor General of South Africa.

Josephine is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and holds several other designations: Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Professional - Masters (CISSP), AWS Certified Cloud Practioner and Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP). She is also a  global trainer for the Cybersecurity Audit Certificate administered by ISACA and CSA.

Josephine regards herself as a Global Citizen, and through her many travels and work experiences globally, she has come to realize how connected and alike we are, no matter where we reside. Her core beliefs are woven into the fabric of who she is: a lifelong learning, a champion for business innovation and a steadfast believer in the powers of kindness and philanthropy. 

Staying true to her belief of paying it forward, Josephine is presently the Chair of ATCO’s Employees Participating in Communities (EPIC) program. The EPIC program is a way for employees to give back to more than 800 charitable and non-profit organizations around the world. 

She also serves on the board of the Calgary IIA chapter, and the Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS), whose mandate is to empower immigrants and refugees to successfully skill, resettle and integrate into Canada.

– If the Cybersecurity Insurance sector  wants to survive, best they think of adopting a robust framework 


There are troubling trends in cybersecurity: Sophisticated Governmental and private network  attacks, more and more companies held to ransom, the uncertainty is growing. Companies are looking for cyber insurance to protect themselves from these growing risks, but there is another problem brewing. Insurance companies may just not have enough money. She and other experts globally, believe that this industry needs a controls framework to survive.
